New IPhone App Adds Facebook Friends Via Bluetooth

Bluetooth has countless uses, and adding Facebook friends just joined that list thanks to AddFriend, a new iPhone application from Instant Friend. AddFriend allows users to add each other as Facebook friends simply by opening the app and tapping the add button, and the app automatically activates Bluetooth and uses it to share data. The app also works offline, adding the necessary information into a history file, which can be accessed when the user is back online.

Facebook Application Uses Humor To Push Birth Control

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and the Ad Council addressed the serious side of Valentine’s Day with the new Confessions Facebook application from the Bedsider campaign. The two organizations described Bedsider as “a program to help women aged 18 to 29 better understand the different forms of birth control, use their chosen method more carefully and consistently, and live a healthy, happy sex life without having to worry about unplanned pregnancy.” Confessions , which was developed by Social Cubix, allows users to submit “their most funny, embarrassing, and relatable romantic flops and review other submissions from their peers” — anonymously, if they so choose — with the goal of reminding women that they would never give up on sex despite these awkward moments, and they shouldn’t give up on contraception, either. The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy and the Ad Council said seven out of 10 pregnancies among unmarried women age 18 to 29 are unplanned, and Lawrence Swiader, senior director of digital media at the former, added: Bedsider makes birth control approachable, easy, and fun, and this app plays off that.
